4 Months Old

Sophie Grace is 4 months old! She now weighs over 12 pounds and is 24 inches long! She constantly has her hand in her mouth and is suck, suck, sucking! You would think that she is teething, but we haven't noticed any stubs just yet. Sophie is smiling away and giggles come out here and there. She also is doing a lot of baby talk which is so fun to hear! She now can easily play with toys and once she has them, they end up in her mouth. She loves to sit up and look all around at what we are doing. Her favorite thing to do right now is to sit in her high chair and watch me make dinner in the kitchen. She especially likes it when I sing to her while I'm cooking too (she doesn't critique on my poor singing yet!).

Sophie is STILL in her brace but the end is in sight. She should probably only be in it for a few more weeks as she has improved a lot. We are so looking forward to her having freedom and for her to fit well into all of her clothes!

I am back at work and Sophie is doing well at daycare. I feel very comfortable with where she is and it is getting easier to leave her every day. I miss her constantly throughout the day but I keep fairly busy at school. It is nice to be back and I'm slowly getting back into the swing of things.

3 Months Old

Our little Sophie is now three months old and so much has happened! She now weighs 12 pounds and is over 24 inches long! She still wears 0-3 month clothes, but not for long! Sophie is really developing her own personality and makes lots of different expressions to us. Everyone says she has her mother's "knitted eyebrows" look but she also has a beautiful smile to counteract! She has almost total neck control now and loves to sit up (when propped) in order to see her world. She spends a lot of time exploring the world around her so much that she misses a nap or two, but she certainly makes up for it at night. Sophie is usually sleeping through the night for up to 12 1/2 hours! It's hard to believe, I know, but Matt and I are finally feeling human again! From time to time she reminds us that she's still in charge and we're up again at 3:00 AM, but that is becoming few and far between. Sophie is in a new brace now for her hip displacia and we'll get an update on how she's doing (and hopefully how much longer she'll be in the thing) next week. Sophie is also starting to enjoy the many toys that she has. She is getting really good at holding on and she also brings the toys to her mouth. She also has discovered her hands and her pointer finger is constantly in her mouth. She just keeps changing!
We really enjoyed our first Christmas with Sophie. She got the majority of the gifts, but we enjoyed opening them for her (the only year that will ever happen!). She got a lot of toys, clothes, and books, but she also got a really cool Radio Flyer red wagon from Grandpa. We're going to be using that a lot in the upcoming years!

Sophie tried out daycare last week and we both survived! It was really hard leaving her, but she is in great hands there. I start work tomorrow, but she will be with Matt, myself, and my mom for the next two weeks. The daycare is moving a kid up, and space won't be available until the 14th of January. It will be weird being back in the classroom from such a long break, but it will be nice to do something different for a change. I will miss Sophie dreadfully, but with a teacher's schedule I won't be gone from her for too long. I can't wait for summer!
