Week 17

Today I had my first full examination and got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time! I certainly won't go into detail about the exam, except to say that everything looks good and normal for childbirth. Hearing the heartbeat was so cool, that swishing sound is exactly like it is in the movies! It took a minute for the nurse to find it, which had me sweating, but then there it was, and I was so excited! The heartbeat average was about 148 beats per minute which is normal, a little slow, so that may indicate we're having a boy! We'll have to see... my next appointment is at 20 weeks, and we'll find out for sure at that time with an ultrasound. I'm looking forward to it!
